Medical degree, Erasmus University, Rotterdam (1989).

1989-1994 Psychiatric resident: Bavo Psychiatric Center, Noordwijkerhout, RIAGG ‘s Hertogenbosch, Delta Psychiatric Hospital, Hellevoetssluis.

1994-1998 Psychiatric training: Delta Psychiatric Hospital, Rhoon. Board certified psychiatrist (1998). Board certified psychotherapist (1998).

1998-2001 Psychiatrist, Multi-Functional Center Zoetermeer, Robert Fleury Stichting, Psychiatric Hospital.

2001 till present Psychiatrist, Erasmus Medical Center. Rotterdam. Activities as consultation and liaison psychiatrist, researcher and teacher at the department of psychiatry of the Erasmus MC.

Research interests
Ongoing research: Pathogenetic and clinical predictors of cognitive function after delirium in elderly patients undergoing cardiac surgery (DECO-study). This study is planned to lead to a thesis.

Interests: delirium and other organic psychiatric disorders, consultation-liaison psychiatry, old age psychiatry.
