Kathelijne Koorengevel received her medical degree form the Erasmus University in 1997. In 2002 she obtained her PhD-degree at the University of Groningen with the thesis 'On the chronobiology of seasonal affective disorder'. She was trained as a psychiatrist in the University Medical Center Groningen, Psychomedical Center 'Vijverdal' in Maastricht and the University Hospital Maastricht. Since 2007 she is working as a psychiatrist at the department of Psychiatry of the Erasmus MC with a focus on peripartum psychiatry.
