Biographical sketch


In 2003 I graduated from my study in Nutrition and Dietetics. After graduation I worked as a dietitian for the diabetes department of the Leids University and Medical Centre. In 2007 I switched to the Erasmus Medical Centre and in 2009 started my PhD research at the department of Medical Psychology and Psychotherapy and the department of Internal Medicine. Apart from my work, I’m the chairman of the Nutrition and Diabetes Organization.

Research interests


My PhD research lies in de field of diabetes. I study the effect of cognitive behavioral therapy in preventing weight regain after a very low calorie diet in patients with type 2 diabetes and overweight.
